I really hate the feeling I have after a heavy dose of coffee or one of those crazy energy drinks. It makes me jittery and I'm not able to even think straight. And it turns me into a total nervous wreck like a Chihuahua on crack!
So I've been trying to find alternative "pick-me-up" drinks or energy boosters without the crash afterward to give me that extra edge when I need it. Now, I've tried many of these drinks out there so I wanted to do a full review on this particular product.
It's called Rev 3 Energy and I found it surprising on a number of factors.
- When I look for these so called energy drinks, I don't want all the obscene amounts of sugar (I'm extremely sensitive to sugar so it's very important to find something that doesn't contain any or very little) This drink claims to use "low-glycemic" sugars and I've done a little bit of research on the actual ingredients. It contains something called "Crystalline Fructose" which basically is a crystallized form of Corn Syrup. It just seems like another name disguised as High Fructose Corn Syrup to me. Another ingredient that was listed is "evaporated cane juice syrup" which again literally means a concentrated form of sugar. Yes, it may seem "healthy" because of the so called natural "cane juice" used in place of sugar or fructose but it's really the same to me. And seems bogus to try to pass it off as something else completely!
- It has all the good vitamins for energy like the different B vitamins which are essential for the breakdown of carbohydrates into glucose. Yes, it's great that the drink contains the B vitamins but can you also get these in pill form along with a cup of tea or coffee, absolutely!
- It also contains L-Carnitine which is a naturally occurring amino acid which plays a vital role in the metabolism of fat. But you can also get this from natural sources such as many cuts of meat, dairy, eggs and more.
It also contains other ingredients but I'd rather just give you the final conclusion than boring you with all the details. I have to say it's better than a lot of the other energy drinks that are out there but I hate the fact that they make it sound like something that it isn't. All the vitamins and other natural energy boosters make it slightly more viable than the competition.
So if you're into these sweet, sugary energy drinks I'd say pick this one up but for me, I'll stick with a strong cup of coffee with some real vitamins for a good pick me up anyday!
I give it 3 stars out of 5 for the Rev 3 Energy drink.
