It drives me bonkers when I see guys at the gym with humongous upper bodies walking around with their scrawny legs. And I'm not talking about the guys that are genetically inferior in the lower body department, I'm talking about the guys you see that ALWAYS seem to be ONLY working on their upper bodies. They also think by wearing long sweats or long shorts all year long will hide the bird legs but we ALL know your little secret.
Not only does it look ridiculous and hideous, you're also not doing your body justice by avoiding to give the legs an equal opportunity to grow. The lower body muscles (Quadriceps, Hamstrings, Gluteals, Hip flexors and Calves) consist of muscle fibers that are called "slow-twitch" (more on this subject in the future). It allows these muscles to endure long and steady exercises and movements i.e. walking, running a 5 mile marathon etc. By gaining strength and muscle size in the legs and the glutes you increase the amount of calories and fat burned during exercise and even when you're completely dormant.
Yes, it's fantastic to have beautiful and powerful upper body muscles that you can show off in a tank top but why not go for the whole package. I know working out the lower part of your body can be extremely exhausting and painful but nothing is gained without pain right? And you won't have to hide behind those loooong pants even in the summer!
Happy healthy legs and butt!
